Beneficial Properties of Olive Oil

Olive Oil is a vital nutriment for the body's well being

Olive Oil is the natural oil extracted from olives, the fatty fruit of the olive tree.

Approximately 24% of the oil is saturated fats and omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, with 73% being monounsaturated fatty acids, known as oleic acids.  These fatty acids are extremely healthy and when ingested, help to reduce the LDL cholesterol level, without reducing the good HDL cholesterol levels in the blood.

In addition to beneficial fatty acids, Olive Oil also contains natural vitamins A, D, E and K, which help to replenish moisture loss resulting in restored flexibility and suppleness of the skin.

Olive Oil is also loaded with powerful, biologically active antioxidants that allow it to maintain stability and neutralize the oxidant effect of free radicals that damage collagen and cause skin dryness and wrinkles.  This helps to reduce the look of fine lines and keep the skin youthful.

An important antioxidant action is performed by phenolic compounds (phenols, phenolic acids and polyphenols), which are found in abundance in quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils. Oleocanthal is beneficial phenolic compound unique to Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and is a known anti-inflammatory often referred to as ‘nature’s ingredient for pain relief’.

Squalene, another noted component of Olive Oil, is an antibacterial and antioxidant.  It has the ability to rapidly penetrate the skin and, once absorbed, helps prevent UV damage and the formation of age spots.  It also promotes cell growth and stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin.

My Skin and Olive Oil

Olive Oil is suitable for all skin types

At the Olive Oil Skincare Company, our home grown Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the base for our all natural skin and hair care products.  Cold pressed and unfiltered, which means it contains the maximum possible concentration of both monounsaturated fats and polyphenol antioxidants, this ‘liquid gold’, nutrient rich oil is a natural beauty booster.

Olive Oil has the highest compatibility with our own skin as the chemical composition is very similar. It spreads and lubricates exceptionally well and leaves a non-oily soft, rich feel on the skin as it deeply hydrates.

Rich in glycolipids and phytosterols, Olive Oil has both detoxifying and anti-aging benefits.  It blocks and fights free radicals, helping to reduce the look of fine lines and keep skin youthful.

A source of both natural Vitamin E and Vitamin K, Olive Oil helps to replenish moisture loss resulting in restored flexibility and suppleness.   It also assists in UV ray protection, and neutralizes the oxidant effect of free radicals that damage collagen and cause skin dryness and wrinkles.  It helps rejuvenate cells, improves the look of scars and soothes damaged skin.

Blended with selected essential oils, each chosen for their beneficial properties, our range of Olive Oil Skincare products has something to offer all ages and all skin types.
